Check out these lower abdominals

Today I was at the gym with my friend Jay. Jay turned 40 recently, and he has a good story. In the past 6 months he has started this fitness kick in an effort to look as good as he did in his 20s and he’s doing a good job of getting there. He has dropped 32 lbs from 205 lbs to 173 lbs, and he looks better and feels better.

So the discussion today was regarding how to get that cut 6-pack look. His frustration is that he has dropped the excess fat, and he is working out his abs with sit-ups, knee raises and other ab exercises, but his abs are not getting the desired definition that he is looking for.

Extreme Mountain Climbing for Abs

Michael Andreula from Dynamic Intensity has taken Mountain Climber exercises and turned them up a notch. He performs a whole body workout that hits the shoulders, chest, triceps and especially the core. He calls them Everest Climbers as in Mount Everest. They take “Mountain Climbers” to a whole other level. Many people who attempt to do Mountain Climbers are cheating by making small movements in their legs.

You start by keeping your chest pushed out, and your hands down. You want to hit your the lower muscle fibers in your chest. You need to keep your core tight when you perform the exercise.

Why are lower abdominal exercises so important?

If you like to watch contact sports like boxing or UFC, the one thing you will notice is that the boxers in the light to medium weight classes are ripped. The definition of their muscles is amazing. From the tip of their head to the bottom of their toes, every muscle is pronounced. Although the focus is always going to be the abdominal muscles. Continue reading

Killer Lower Abdominal Exercises

Killer Abs

Getting Ripped

To get the complete look for your physique, you need to focus on lower abdominal exercises. This will create that 8-pack look. It is one of those details that makes one body stand out more than others that are just focused on their Upper Abs.  It is the difference between 4 pack abs and 6 pack or even 8 pack abs.  Before you workout, it is best to understand what the muscles are used for. The function of the Abdominal muscles is for spine or lumbar flexion. They allow your back to flex, such as sitting up, bending over or raising your legs.

The challenge that a lot of people have is that the abdominals are covered with a layer of fat. Most people have some sort of ab development, it just can’t be seen underneath the fat. So diet and cardio are going to be important to reduce that layer of abdominal fat, and allow the muscles to be seen. Continue reading

How to get ripped by eating right

Eat Stop Eat

Eat Stop Eat

Do you know how to get ripped to really show off those six pack abs. Diet, diet, diet. We’ve all heard that how you look is 75% nutrition, and 25% workouts. But dieting isn’t fun. Even with the motivation of six pack abs, dieting can be difficult. How would like to get ripped, but still enjoy the odd beer, or indulge in some cake and ice cream? Let me introduce you to Eat Stop Eat.

Eat Stop Eat is an eating plan that is based on the idea of intermittent fasting.

What is intermittent fasting?

You fast for 24 hours, twice a week.

Sexy abs make the difference

great abs

six pack abs

When it comes to a complete body, defined abs provide that finishing touch. When you look at guys and girls in the movies with their shirts off, you can have strong arms and delts and a great chest, but if the six pack isn’t there, they fall short. The six pack abs create that sexy look. It doesn’t matter if it is Mario Lopez, David Beckham or Taylor Lautner for the girls to watch, or Jennifer Aniston or Keira Knightly for the guys to watch, the abs make the difference.

The same works at the beach. You need to get those abdominal muscles developed, and lower your body fat to give your abs that six pack, defined look. When your abs are defined, you are going to have members of the opposite sex drooling to get next to you. It doesn’t matter if you are 18 or 60 those abs can do the trick.

The old saying “curls for the girls” is fine. When you have your shirt on, the arms can be an attraction, but at the end of the day it is the abs that will keep them coming back. When you are working your abs remember that you can’t just focus on the upper abs. Throw some lower abdominal exercises into the mix to work your whole abdominal region.

I’ll be writing more on the lower abdominal exercises in an upcoming blog.
